Controller

Position Description

Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Finance Department. This position oversees implements and maintains workflow, accounting systems, procedures and policies for the company. The controller reports to the Vice President of Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manages and directs the activities of the Finance Department staff to achieve the accurate and timely dissemination of financial reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, budgets, and tax compliance reports.
  2. Monitors operational costs and conducts analyses to determine causes of variances.
  3. Oversees the activities of, GL maintenance, cash flow management, and Accounts Payable/ Accounts Receivable.
  4. Establishes and maintains financial systems and controls to verify the integrity of all systems processes and data.
  5. Provides information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management and other users in making educated economic decisions.
  6. Conforms with and abide by all regulatory, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  7. Maintains a high rate of client retention through quality service.
  8. Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with clients, agencies, and coworkers to promote a quality service image.
  9. Establishes and maintain a positive working relationship with clients, vendors and coworkers
  10. Performs special projects and other work-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 10+ years’ (hands-on) mid-sized company financial and management experience including the day-to-day operations of an organization
  • Progressive accounting/finance experience with heavy payroll emphasis preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple projects in fast pace environment, proven track record in building cohesive teams, and ability to get the job done and/or affect change when necessary
  • Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with payroll software
  • Ability to analyze data with particular attention to detail.

The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Extensive periods of sitting are required as well as reaching with hands and arms. Ability to climb, stoop, kneel are needed at times.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
