Community service and involvement is woven into the fabric of Propel HR. Most weekends, you can find our “Propellers” out and about at community events, fundraisers and service days. Whether serving our clients or our community, we just love to serve!
My father, Braxton Cutchin, and I founded the company in 1996. After being in the PEO and HR world for 20 years, I have experienced firsthand the value we can provide to both the clients and the employees. It is truly a win for all parties. I’m proud to have helped establish Propel HR as an industry forerunner in the Southeast. There is nothing I love more than receiving phone calls from clients who seek my advice as a trusted advisor. This is a business where I feel that I can help others and that is important to my own value.
I’ve served on the Board of Directors of NAPEO (National Association of Professional Employer Organizations) and currently serve as the Chair for the NAPEO Carolinas Leadership Council. In 2015, I was honored to be named a Fellow of the eleventh class of the Liberty Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
I’m also an advocate for public education. I serve on the executive board of Public Education Partners and I’m the founder and director of Read Up Greenville, a young adult and middle grades book festival in downtown Greenville, SC.
When I take a break from board meetings, client visits, and networking, I’m most likely reading, camping, or spending time with my family. I also enjoy volunteering at my church and staying involved in my children's schools.
I was born and raised in Easley, SC and graduated from Wofford College with a degree in Economics. After college I spent seven years working as a Commercial Realtor for The Furman Company in Greenville, SC.
I founded The Cutchin Company in 1970, specializing in retail development and management. The Cutchin Company developed approximately 25 shopping centers and handled the ground leases for the land surrounding Haywood Mall, Greenville’s primary enclosed mall.
During the 80’s, three partners and I started Surf Associates and developed resort condominiums along the Eastern Seaboard from Maryland to Florida. Surf was responsible for the construction of approximately 2000 units and developed several golf courses.
I decided to change my life’s endeavors in 1990 and started a PEO (Professional Employment Organization). Personnel Resources operated primarily in South Carolina and Georgia. During this time my daughter, Lee Yarborough, joined the business. With Lee’s help our business grew to serve over 2,500 employees.
In 2007, Lee and I welcomed Paul Garrigan to our management team and founded Propel HR, Inc. Since that time, Propel has expanded throughout the United States, experiencing growth of 15 to 20% each year, and we now serve over 15,000 client employees.
Outside of work, I have a terrible golf habit and I don’t like to miss a Wofford College home football game. I like cooking and grilling out and seeing friends around Greenville. But most of all, I love to spend time with my three grandchildren.
I’ve been involved in the payroll and human resource outsourcing industry for the majority of my 28-year career. I helped start two companies from the ground floor and helped them grow to over 150 employees each.
The bulk of my career has been spent working specifically with small- and medium-size companies to improve their efficiency from hire to retire, reduce potential compliance liability risk, and improve gross profit margins. I’ve helped design service models to meet the unique needs for business owners to outsource non-profit functions more efficiently and cost effectively.
My goals are to serve and to empower those I work with through teaching, role modeling, and training so they are well equipped to do their job. Empowering the employees produces a more efficient team and allows us to serve our clients needs better.
Away from work my wife and I volunteer in our community and serve in our church. I enjoy boating in freshwater and saltwater, and I like to fish, snorkel, and scuba dive. I love reading biographies and history, especially American history. My wife and I have four children—two finishing college and two settling into their careers—and we continue to stay active in their lives.
I’m a native of Greenville, SC. I graduated from Wofford College and earned a BS degree in Psychology and minor in Biology. Shortly after graduation and European travels, I moved to Jackson Hole, WY and began my career as a therapist working with traumatically brain-injured young adults. After two years, I moved home to Greenville and continued to work in the mental health business with Gateway House. In 1997, I took a job with Eli Lilly & Company in Asheville, NC where my primary focus was in mental and women’s health. After 5 ½ years in the pharmaceutical industry, my wife, Lee, and I moved back to Greenville to grow her family’s human resources business.
Today, I’m the Vice President of Development for Propel HR. I work closely with both the operations team and sales team to promote client retention, promote sales growth and to create business partnerships throughout the southeast.
I like to stay busy outside of my responsibilities at Propel HR. I’m a graduate of Leadership Greenville (39), Leadership SC 2015 and the Diversity Leadership Initiative at the Riley Institute at Furman University. I currently serve on the following boards: The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of SC, Leadership Greenville Advisory Council, Leadership SC Board of Directors, Rebuild Upstate and the GHS Children’s Hospital Advancement Council. I also serve on the PTA Legislative Committee for Blythe Academy and on the Public Education Partners Advocacy Committee.
Outside of work and serving the community, I enjoy spending time at Caesar’s Head, riding my bike and traveling with Lee and our two girls. My golden retriever, Major, is a licensed therapy dog, and we spend time visiting patients at Greenville Hospital and local retirement homes.
I began my career in the restaurant industry and spent 21 years in corporate restaurant administrative management. When I went to work with Chi Chi’s Mexican Restaurant group in Louisville, Kentucky, they had just opened their second location, and over the next 13 years I helped them grow to 262 locations. While I was working there, I had the opportunity to become a client of a PEO and worked closely with them on payroll, benefits and workers’ compensation services.
I joined the PEO industry in Florida in 2000 and served in various Executive Management roles for three different PEO’s. My husband and I relocated to Greenville in 2011 to enjoy the mountains and lakes and I had the opportunity to join the Propel management team. I enjoy working with our operations staff and our clients on a daily basis, ensuring that we are meeting our clients’ needs and expectations as a team.
Away from the office, I love gardening and working in our yard. My husband and I enjoy playing a round of golf, spending a day on the lake, exploring new towns and cities and attending an exciting NASCAR race. Our daughters and grandson are still in Florida, so it’s special every time we get to return to the Sunshine State!
I was born and raised in Seattle, WA and graduated from Averett University with my BS and MBA. After a 10-year career with a national provider, I joined Propel HR in 2013.
At Propel HR I have the luxury of offering enterprise level software with a world class service model. We also understand how complex the employee life cycle is and are able to customize an offering that aligns with their long term strategy.
When I’m taking a break from work, you will find me volunteering in youth sports and with my wife Stephanie and 4 children.
